Ghost of Yotei’s patch 1.1 has unlocked VRR support and an uncapped frame rate toggle that delivers a clear performance jump on PS5 Pro, and useful improvements on the base PS5 when paired with a VRR capable 120Hz display. Testing flagged by Digital Foundry shows the most dramatic gains come with ray tracing enabled. The game’s RT Pro mode, which targeted 60 fps before the update, now frequently reaches between 70 and 90 fps on PS5 Pro with the uncapped option active, a result Digital Foundry describes as “incredible“.
Balanced mode, which includes ray tracing and aims for a 40 fps target, also benefits on PS5 Pro, with the uncapped toggle it often rides the 40 to 60 fps window rather than stalling at the lower target. Turning ray tracing off and uncapping the frame rate pushes roughly a 33 percent uplift across Performance, Balanced, and Quality presets according to the same testing. Base PS5 owners are not left out entirely. If you have a VRR-compatible 120 Hz panel, the uncapped Balanced option can also hit 60 fps, so the headline PS5 Pro improvements are mirrored in part on standard hardware when the display supports VRR.
The update was more than a pure performance tweak. Console PC Gaming previously covered the broader items added in 1.1 including New Game Plus, replayable duels, and a new vendor, and those details are listed in the Patch 1.1 notes on New Game+ and replayable duels. There is also a short video clip embedded in the original coverage showing the frame rate behavior and menus. For players who prize stable ray-traced visuals and a higher frame rate, the new options let you pick a balance between fidelity and smoothness without waiting for a full next-gen overhaul. For anyone chasing the highest frame counts on PS5 Pro, the uncapped toggle with VRR enabled is the clear move.
