Gears of War: E-Day will begin its multiplayer open beta on August 6, 2026. NVIDIA revealed the date while also releasing a new graphics driver for the upcoming shooter.
The beta will give players an early chance to try the game’s multiplayer before its planned October 6 release. More details about the game’s competitive and cooperative modes are scheduled to arrive during the multiplayer reveal on July 30.
What to expect from Gears of War: E-Day
The game takes place fourteen years before the original Gears of War, with Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago returning home as the Locust Horde begins its assault on humanity.
Gears of War: E-Day is being built with Unreal Engine 5.8 and will include a story campaign, a Horde Siege PvE mode, and focused PvP multiplayer. Its updated movement system will let players jump, vault, slide, and flank while keeping the series’ cover-based combat intact.
The Coalition is also using Unreal Engine 5 features such as Lumen and MegaLights. The latter can support hundreds of shadow-casting lights, while destructible environmental objects will add more physical damage to combat spaces.
The August 6 test will offer an early look at those multiplayer systems. NVIDIA’s new driver should also give PC players a fresh graphics driver to install before the beta begins.
Players can expect more information as the multiplayer presentation approaches, followed by the open beta on August 6.
