Gears of War: E-Day Multiplayer Leak Offers a Blurry Look at Beta Build

An off-camera video showing nearly three minutes of multiplayer gameplay from a pre-release build of Gears of War: E-Day has appeared online. The footage is difficult to make out because it was recorded from a screen, but it still offers an early look at the game’s multiplayer systems.
The leak was shared on July 24, 2026, by an account named Lucas, with the post describing the material as a leaked beta for Gears of War: E-Day.

Gears of War: E-Day takes place fourteen years before the first Gears of War. Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago return home to find humanity under attack from the Locust Horde, which rises from underground and begins its assault on the surface.
The game is being built with Unreal Engine 5.8 and includes a story campaign, Horde Siege PvE, and focused PvP multiplayer. Its updated movement system allows players to jump, vault, slide, and flank while keeping the series’ cover-based combat at the center of each firefight.
The footage also points toward the game’s focus on environmental destruction. Pillars and other objects can be damaged during combat, although the available clip does not establish how much of the wider environment will be destructible.
On the technology side, Gears of War: E-Day is among the early games using Unreal Engine 5’s MegaLights. The system supports scenes with hundreds of shadow-casting lights, while Lumen handles the game’s lighting and reflections.
The leak arrives less than a week before the scheduled multiplayer reveal on July 30. The presentation will begin at 9:00 a.m. ET and is expected to show more of the game’s versus modes and Horde Siege, according to the scheduled multiplayer reveal details.
Microsoft plans to release Gears of War: E-Day on October 6. Until the official presentation arrives, this clip should be treated as incomplete beta footage rather than a final look at the multiplayer experience.
