Frostpunk 2, developed by 11 Bit Studios, will launch on September 18 and is confirmed to arrive day one on Xbox Game Pass. The console launch hits Game Pass immediately, letting access happen without buying a copy and tying console timing to the earlier PC release.
Release details point to a September 18 release date, and the sequel follows the original 2018 game, which has a remake confirmed for 2027. Microsoft’s Wave 1 announcement for September covered titles through the 16th and so didn’t list Frostpunk 2, but the title is visible on the Xbox Store with a Coming to Game Pass indicator.
The Xbox Store flag is the most explicit confirmation that Frostpunk 2 will be accessible on day one via subscription; the store shows the usual purchase options alongside the Game Pass callout, and pre-download will be available so play can begin at launch. To prepare, sign into an Xbox account, verify an active Game Pass subscription, visit the Frostpunk 2 page on the Store, and add it to Play Later or pre-download so the game is ready at launch.
Typically, Xbox offers a small placeholder download if the whole build isn’t available immediately; that placeholder will update to the full version automatically once the build is pushed. If an account is tied to a Home Console with an active subscription, titles added on that account are available for others on the shared console without extra purchases, but the subscription must be active on the account that owns the Game Pass access.
