Stefano Cagnani has released a free demo of his fan remake of Dino Crisis 2, built in Unreal Engine 5. Originally behind a paywall, the demo is now accessible to everyone. It offers a glimpse of what a remake might look like, though it is a solo project and still rough in some areas.
The fan remake departs from the original’s fixed camera angles, adopting a third-person perspective similar to Capcom’s recent Resident Evil remakes. In the demo, which provides about an hour of gameplay, players can look at environments, collect cards, solve puzzles, and battle dinosaurs.
While animations and character models like Regina’s may feel unpolished, this is understandable given the single-developer effort. Fans of the original game might find the demo interesting despite its imperfections.
