Forza Horizon 5 gears up for its debut on the PS5. After years of being an exclusive title for Xbox, this beloved racing game is finally reaching a new audience. However, there’s a catch: it will be a digital-only release.
Developers at Playground Games recently announced that Forza Horizon 5 will launch on the PS5 on April 29. While many fans were eager to know if they could snag a physical copy, the developers have confirmed they have “no current plans” for such a release. This news has sparked quite a conversation among players who cherish having tangible copies of their favorite games.
In response to inquiries about a potential physical edition, Playground Games reiterated its stance multiple times on social media. They also clarified that cross-saves between Xbox and PlayStation 5 will not be available, which may disappoint those hoping to transfer their progress from one console to another.
Regarding gameplay on the PS5, players can look forward to two distinct modes: Performance mode, running at 60 fps, and Quality mode, at 30 fps. Notably, the game will support PS5 Pro enhancements upon release, offering increased fidelity in Performance mode, ray-traced car reflections during races, and free roam in Quality mode. It sounds like a visual treat!
The game will be available in Standard, Deluxe, and Premium. The Standard edition includes the base game, free content updates, and the upcoming Horizon Realms update. The Deluxe edition adds an impressive extra 42 cars through the Car Pass for those looking for more content. Meanwhile, the Premium edition bundles all previous content with both expansions, Rally Adventure and Hot Wheels, alongside VIP Membership benefits and extras included in the Welcome Pack.
If you’re eager to get behind the wheel early, pre-ordering the Premium edition grants access starting April 25, 2025. Regular pre-orders come with an enticing special bundle too!
