Fortnite’s next gaming crossover season, Override (Chapter 7 Season 4), is scheduled to begin on August 20, 2026, without Sony’s familiar guest stars. Kratos and Aloy have appeared in the battle royale before, but neither character appears in the trailer for the upcoming season.
Override brings together a colorful gaming lineup
Players will see Sonic the Hedgehog, Tails, Dr. Eggman, Shadow, Bomberman, and Persona 5’s Joker during the season. Sora from Kingdom Hearts, Mega Man, and Rush join them, with weapons and gameplay elements inspired by the featured franchises. Sonic’s influence will also reach the island itself through loop-the-loops inspired by SEGA’s blue speedster.
Tetris and Pac-Man are part of the season as well. A nod to Jazz Jackrabbit gives the event a little extra history, since the game was created by Epic.
Crash Bandicoot and Spyro will also appear. Both series have roots on the original PlayStation, although Microsoft owns them now.
Season artwork also features crossover characters who have already appeared in Fortnite, including Ryu and Blanka from Street Fighter, Master Chief from Halo, Geralt from The Witcher, and Lara Croft. They share the image with the upcoming additions, making Override’s guest list look especially packed.
Epic Games has not said which characters will be Battle Pass unlocks, which will be sold in the Item Shop, which will serve as sidekicks, or which will appear as NPCs.
The season’s timing also matches the August 20 date previously attached to Sonic’s Fortnite arrival.

Kratos and Aloy could still return later
Epic Games has not confirmed whether Kratos or Aloy will return to the Item Shop during the event. Their absence from the trailer does not rule out a later appearance, but there is currently no announcement pointing to either character joining the season.
