Fortnite’s late-game storm circles are closing faster in a live trial
Epic Games also adjusted several weapons, Shock Rocks, and Guardian Shields across Battle Royale and Zero Build.
Fortnite is putting more pressure on players during the final stages of Battle Royale matches. Late storm circles now close faster, giving players less time to rotate as the match progresses.
Early movement around the island remains unchanged, but the reduced late-game timing means waiting until the last moment to leave a safe spot will be riskier. Players who spend too long looting or hiding in a bush may find themselves racing the storm with far fewer options.
Epic Games described the storm adjustment as an active trial and is asking players whether the new pacing feels better and whether late rotations remain practical. That means the timing could still change based on the feedback the team receives.
Other Battle Royale changes
The storm is only one part of the update. Pistols are now less common as ground loot, while Shock Rocks appear in stacks of two, with a maximum stack size of four.
Surgical Burst Rifles deal more damage, and Warforged Assault Rifles are now faster and more accurate. Bank Shot Pistols have a higher drop rate and deal more damage, while the Mythic Rapid Fire SMG carries more rounds per magazine.
The Mythic Ranger Pistol went the other way with lower overall damage. Guardian Shields have also been toned down in Zero Build. They recharge more slowly and drain faster when fully charged after becoming too powerful since their return.
