Fortnite pulled the Peaceful Hips emote after the latest episode of Peacemaker reframed the move in a much darker context, and Epic now says it will modify the emote to avoid confusion. The emote, which reproduced part of the show’s opening dance, was added to the in-game store earlier in September and removed a few days after Peacemaker Season 2 Episode 6 aired, when the episode revealed an alternate reality that included imagery and gestures that could be read as referencing Nazi symbolism.
The episode’s twist, an America that lost to Germany in World War 2, complete with a swastika-like visual in one scene, cast new and troubling light on a brief dance snippet. That same movement appears to be the portion used for the Peaceful Hips emote, and it also echoes a moment from the 1942 Donald Duck short Der Fuehrer’s Face, which was anti-Nazi propaganda.
In a follow-up post, the Fortnite Status account wrote that Epic has “worked closely with our partners at Warner Bros. Games to confirm there were no creative intentions to connect the Peaceful Hips Emote and the current Peacemaker storyline.” The post added that the emote’s choreography will be modified in next week’s update.
We’ve worked closely with our partners at Warner Bros. Games to confirm there were no creative intentions to connect the Peaceful Hips Emote and the current Peacemaker storyline. To avoid any confusion, we’re modifying the Emote choreography in next week’s update. If they prefer,…

Epic also stated that players who purchased the emote before it was removed may return it without incurring a refund ticket cost. If you purchased the emote and want your money back, you can return it for a refund ticket. Presumably, the new version will keep a portion of the season’s choreography but cut the particular movement that could be misused or misread.
Epic framed the change as a precaution, saying there were no intentional ties to the show’s plot and that altering the emote would remove any potential for confusion or exploitation. It’s a tidy solution that prevents ongoing problems without erasing the collaboration, and it leaves the choice with players who already bought the item.
