Despite the fact that many games which support crossplay do not support the feature between PS4 and Xbox One for various of reasons, Fortnite may be the first one to receive this kind of functionality. Not only because the platforms want to allow that, but because the Players have begun signing a petition.
Furthermore, Microsoft and Epic Games have already sorted out how Xbox One/PS4 crossplay would work. However, Sony still needs to give a proper answer. Therefore, this Petition has come to power after players have decided to create it and it has already received a massive amount of signs.
Epic Games and Microsoft, developer and manufacturer of Fortnite and the Xbox video-games console respectively, have both shown a willingness to allow Xbox and Playstation owners to play Fortnite against each other online. To date, Playstation manufacturer Sony has yet to comment or show support for the idea. Cross-platform is already allowed between mobile, PC and Xbox or Playstation players, therefore proving there are no system limitations preventing this from happening.

If we flow throughout the past, Microsoft a guild on their side too by denying cross-play when having the best selling console in 2011. Now, things have turned into being somewhat equal, and both companies should oblige in bringing fun to players instead of just messing around on which console is more appropriate or better to play.
It is sad to know that Cross-Play between PC and console is still active, which adds a lot of advantage to the PC players. However, this petition would bring a lot more joy by having a role of an equalizer when it comes to balance.
