Fortnite Override’s August 20 Skin Lineup Will Include Sonic, Tetris, and Sora
The Gaming Legends season will have eight Battle Pass skins, while guest outfits and companion cosmetics will rotate through the Item Shop.
Epic announced Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4: Override for August 20, 2026, with a Gaming Legends theme bringing characters and ideas from several game series into the Battle Pass and Item Shop. Its original schedule placed the previous season’s end on August 19, followed by Override the next day.
The August 20 launch date is confirmed, and the season will include new points of interest such as Green Hill Zone and Tetris-themed areas. Sonic also comes with a Spin Dash Mythic item, giving players a fast way to race across the island.
The island’s extra arcade details include checkerboard loop-de-loops, racing karts, Pac-Man Ghost landmarks, and game cartridges that fall onto the map. Tails will also appear as a Sprite, adding another tiny mascot to the colorful chaos.
The official Chapter 7 Season 4: Override trailer shows off the crossover-heavy direction, including Sonic, Tetris blocks, and the new map locations.
A short Kingdom Hearts teaser also gives Sora’s Keyblade an early visual reveal. The oversized weapon appears on the island’s beach with Fortnite and Kingdom Hearts branding in frame. Even in the brief footage, its bright gold metal, hanging chain, and blue-purple handle are easy to spot.

Eight Battle Pass skins are confirmed
Two of the eight Battle Pass skins are already identified as crossover characters. The other six are original Fortnite creations built around different video game genres, and several of those designs now have names.
- Sonic the Hedgehog is part of the Battle Pass. Green Hill Zone will appear as a new point of interest, with collectible Rings and the Spin Dash Mythic also tied to the crossover.
- Tetris will receive a blocky, pixel-inspired skin. Tetris blocks will also appear across the island in themed areas.
- Six original Fortnite skins include Bastian, Grace Crowne, Kittywins, Mali, and Phantom. Geno will also become playable through the pass after serving as one of the season’s villains.
Wrixel also appears in the season’s Battle Pass material as a character with a cuboid head and wiry body. An official Fortnite clip shows the same design in several forms, while Epic confirmed that the skin will have over one million combinations. That customization was one of the features announced for the season.
Item Shop guests range from Shadow to Master Chief
Override’s crossover lineup extends beyond Battle Pass progression. These outfits and companion cosmetics will rotate through the Item Shop during the season instead of being unlocked through Battle Pass tiers.
- Sonic the Hedgehog brings Dr. Eggman, Shadow the Hedgehog, Rush Sidekick, and the Tails Glider.
- Kingdom Hearts includes Sora, along with a Keyblade pickaxe.
- Classic gaming icons include Mega Man, Pac-Man as a sidekick cosmetic, Crash Bandicoot, and Spyro the Dragon as a sidekick. The official Fortnite material also shows Mega Man and Jonesy using the Mega Buster, although its exact in-game classification has not been confirmed.
- Other game series include Joker from Persona 5, Geralt from The Witcher, Lara Croft from Tomb Raider, and Master Chief from Halo.
- Honkai: Star Rail includes Blade and Kafka.
- Screamer includes Hiroshi Jackson.
- 99 Nights in the Forest includes the Deer.
- Street Fighter will bring returning outfits featuring Ryu, Blanka, Chun-Li, and other fighters.
Original August 20 downtime estimates
Before the scheduled August 20 launch, Epic had not announced the final downtime length or exact server reopening time. A downtime estimate from Fortnite leaker Shiina listed the following times:
- Wednesday, August 19 at 11:00 p.m. PST
- Thursday, August 20 at 2:00 a.m. EST
- Thursday, August 20 at 7:00 a.m. BST
- Thursday, August 20 at 8:00 a.m. CEST
These were pre-launch estimates, not a confirmed record of when the servers reopened or a schedule for upcoming maintenance.
How to unlock the Override Battle Pass skins
The announced unlock route ties all eight Battle Pass skins to progression through:
- Purchasing the Battle Pass announced for the August 20, 2026 season.
- Earning XP from matches and daily or weekly challenges.
- Leveling up to the tier milestones connected to each skin.
Item Shop cosmetics will follow a separate rotation, so they will not come from Battle Pass tiers. Players interested in the crossover outfits will need to check the shop during the season and spend V-Bucks when the desired cosmetics appear.
