As we approach the season 3 finale of Invincible, another fascinating collaboration emerges between Fortnite and Amazon’s superhero series. This time, players can snag a free skin just in time for the show’s climax. However, the character choice has drawn some eyebrows, leaving fans to wonder about the selection process.
This latest crossover introduces two skins: Allen the Alien, a character crucial to this season’s plot developments, and Multi-Kate, who has had minimal impact but is still alive after her supposed demise in season 2. While Allen makes sense as a relevant addition, Multi-Kate’s inclusion raises questions among players, especially since her counterpart could have been more appealing.
The choice of Multi-Kate as the free skin feels particularly odd. Perhaps the developers predicted low interest in purchasing her skin, leading to her being offered as a reward for completing various quests. It’s worth noting that female representation in Invincible has been limited; while Atom Eve was featured previously, many fans hoped for different characters this time around. Characters like Shrinking Rae or Anissa seemed like better options than Dupli-Kate.
This collaboration also highlights an imbalance; while there are numerous male characters yet to receive skins, think Rex Splode or Cecil Stedman, players are left wondering why Multi-Kate was prioritized. At least we can look forward to Mark’s blue suit making its appearance!
The Invincible finale airs this Thursday, and creator Robert Kirkman hinted at shorter waiting periods between future seasons compared to those we’ve seen before. Season 4 is slated for release sometime in 2026. Although additional skins could emerge down the line, it’s unusual for a single IP to see three full rounds of collaborations.
A curious situation arises when considering how many skins from Invincible have made it into Fortnite. One would expect Amazon’s other MA-rated series, The Boys, to share similar treatment given its popularity. Yet, no Homelander or Billy Butcher appearances here, perhaps due to previous contracts with other titles like Call of Duty? Whatever the reason may be, it certainly adds an amusing twist to these collaborations.
