Epic Games has released early patch notes for Fortnite 24.40, the latest update set to bring significant changes to the beloved Battle Royale game.
In a significant change to the competitive landscape of Fortnite, the existing Arena mode will be replaced with a new Ranked mode. Players can compete and rise through various ranks, including Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Elite, Champion, and Unreal. This is part of the first Ranked season, known as Season Zero. This season will last until the end of Battle Royale Chapter 4 Season 3, allowing Epic Games to adjust any issues that may arise.
Fortnite 24.40 Patch Notes
The list of changes below is still developing…
Discontinuation of Arena Mode and the arrival of Ranked Mode
In this system, players can enable Ranked mode and work their way up through various ranks, starting from Bronze and going all the way up to Unreal. The system spans across:
- Bronze
- Silver
- Gold
- Platinum
- Diamond
- Elite
- Champion
- Unreal
With the introduction of Ranked Mode, the Arena Mode will be discontinued. Epic Games has confirmed this change as part of the new update. Ranked Season Zero begins now. Battle it out against other players of similar rank in Battle Royale or Zero Build. Show off your skills, complete challenges for cosmetic rewards, and climb the ranks.
The first five ranks will be divided into three sub-ranks, while Elite, Champion, and Unreal will consist of a single rank each.
The debut of Ranked in v24.40 will mark the start of Ranked Season Zero, which will last until the end of Battle Royale Chapter 4, Season 3. This period will be used for adjustments and improvements before Ranked falls in line with the regular Battle Royale Season schedule.
Players’ starting ranks in Season Zero will be determined based on their past match performance and their performance in their first Ranked Battle Royale and Ranked Zero Build match. Once players reach the Unreal rank, they will stay in that rank for the rest of the season, regardless of future performance.
Continuation of Star Wars Crossover
Star Wars fans will be pleased to know that the current Find The Force crossover will continue beyond this update. New quests will go live the day after the update, on Wednesday, May 17, 2023. Furthermore, Star Wars-themed weapons and cosmetics will be available until the event ends on May 23, 2023.
Fortnite x Miles Morales
Epic Games has hinted at introducing a new skin to their wildly popular battle royale game, Fortnite. This time, it appears that Miles Morales, the protagonist from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, is set to debut in the game.
