Forest of Deceit Adds 6 Languages and Per-Player Controller Settings

The social deduction game now supports German, French, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Simplified Chinese, and Italian across Xbox and Windows PC.

Forest of Deceit now supports 6 additional languages, giving groups more ways to play the social deduction game without letting a language barrier make someone look suspicious. The update adds German, French, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Simplified Chinese, and Italian, while also allowing each player to customize the language on their mobile controller.

Ghost Camp and Thomas Mackinnon announced the update in an Xbox Wire article, explaining that localization was one of the most common requests after the game launched earlier this year. Forest of Deceit was created by Ghost Camp and Mackinnon, with narration from Sylvester McCoy.

Conversation sits at the center of Forest of Deceit. Groups of 4 to 8 players gather resources, try to build shelter before a storm arrives, and work out which members of the group are Innocents and which are Traitors. Local multiplayer is supported, while online groups can use screen sharing and control the game through mobile web browsers.

That setup makes accurate translation part of the gameplay rather than a minor menu option. A misunderstood button or decision can change how someone behaves, turning an innocent mistake into evidence against them. Even the difference between getting lost in the woods and being expelled by the group needs to remain clear in every supported language.

Language settings can also be adjusted at a more specific level. A group could keep the main game in English while giving one player’s mobile controller an Italian interface, which lets friends and family play together even when they do not all speak the same language.
