If you’ve jumped into The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered and noticed some rough edges, there’s good news. The Unofficial Patch Project Team has dropped the first unofficial patch for this remastered edition, aiming to fix a handful of bugs and improve the overall experience. It’s a modest start, but it’s a step in the right direction for fans craving a smoother adventure.
For those who might not know, the original Unofficial Patch for Oblivion was a massive mod that fixed hundreds of issues—everything from scripts and quests to NPC behavior and item glitches. It became essential for anyone wanting a polished Oblivion experience. Now, the team is bringing that same dedication to the remastered version.
This first release combines fixes from the previous Unofficial Oblivion Patch (UOP), Unofficial Shivering Isles Patch (USIP), and Unofficial Oblivion DLC Patch (UODP), covering all base game content included in the remaster. The scripts have been updated to match the remastered game’s base code, which is crucial for stability.
Don’t expect a flood of fixes just yet. This initial patch is more about laying the groundwork. It addresses some specific issues like:
- Correcting the Skingrad city sign markers so they show the city name correctly.
- Fixing journal entries for the quest “A Brush With Death.”
- Restoring missing map markers at Vanua and Dunbarrow Cave.
You can download the patch from Nexus Mods if you want to try it out.
It’s interesting to see the modding community already working on improving Oblivion Remastered. This first unofficial patch is just the beginning, and I’m curious to see how it evolves.
