Final Fantasy XIV’s Patch 7.56 Screenshots Put Evercold’s Visna at the Center of Crossbow Theories
Patch 7.56 will introduce Beastmaster and new Dawntrail quests, while Visna's equipment adds another clue to Evercold's unnamed physical ranged job.
Final Fantasy XIV’s upcoming Patch 7.56 has brought one of Evercold’s most recognizable characters into view before the expansion arrives. Visna, the pink-haired Miqo’te from the Evercold trailer, appears in new screenshots from the update, and the equipment around her has fans looking for another clue about the expansion’s unannounced physical ranged job.
Patch 7.56 is scheduled for September 8 and will close out the 7.5x update series with more Dawntrail content, new main scenario quests, and the limited Beastmaster job. Visna’s appearance is less expected because she had previously only been shown in promotional footage. Her role in the update has not been confirmed, although the screenshots suggest she could enter the story before Evercold launches.
The official Patch 7.5 media page now includes material for Patch 7.56. One screenshot appears to show a crossbow-like weapon on Visna’s back, while she holds an item resembling a wand. The image does not confirm that either object belongs to Evercold’s new job, but the combination gives the existing crossbow theory more to examine.
Evercold will add two jobs, and one of them is already known. Bastion has been revealed as the expansion’s tank, carrying a shield in each arm and firing both weapons like guns, as Bastion’s reveal established. The other addition is a physical ranged job, and Square Enix has not announced its name or weapon.
Some players have imagined a job that combines a crossbow with a wand, using runes to create weaknesses or special attacks and working alongside a bird. It is another variation on the broader falconer theory, which draws on the possible weapon, Evercold’s Norse-inspired themes, and the job symbol rather than an official description.
Earlier Fan Fest clues included audio snippets from sound director Masayoshi Soken, brief trailer footage, and a job symbol that gave players plenty to examine. A strange Lalafell animation also became part of the conversation, although it offered much less to go on than the weapon imagery. Audio clues shared by Soken at Berlin Fan Fest had already pointed players toward a new ranged damage-dealing job.

Before the Patch 7.56 screenshots appeared, the updated Patch 7.5 site had already shown a cat-eared character holding a crossbow bolt with a crossbow clearly visible across her back.
The safest conclusion is still that the second job may use a crossbow. Visna’s equipment adds a wand-like item and a possible connection to the story, but it cannot confirm her identity as the job or establish how the class will play. Until Square Enix gives the job a name and shows it in action, the crossbow remains the clearest reading of the clues without proving the full falconer theory.
