Final Fantasy VII Revelation Gets an April 8, 2027 PS5 Release Date

Square Enix's two trailers detail Highwind travel, new playable characters, and FITS customization, while physical and digital editions are confirmed and no separate PC launch date has been provided.

Square Enix has put a date on Final Fantasy VII Revelation, with the final chapter of its remake project scheduled to arrive on PS5 on April 8, 2027. Two trailers accompany the announcement, one focused on the release date and another covering the RPG’s combat and world.

The release-date trailers identify the launch as a PS5 release. No separate PC date is provided in the announcement details, so April 8, 2027 should not be read as confirmation of a PC launch.

Physical and digital editions are confirmed

Square Enix has now confirmed that Final Fantasy VII Revelation will launch in both physical and digital formats on April 8, 2027, as stated in an official post. Both earlier chapters of the remake trilogy launched on disc, giving collectors a matching physical entry for the final game.

The Switch 2 version will use a game-key card, following the format used by the trilogy’s previous releases on that platform rather than offering a traditional game card.

The Highwind will open up a wider world

Travel will take place across a large, connected world aboard the Highwind. Players will be able to choose where to land and skydive toward areas of interest across different biomes, cities, and remote frontiers. Chocobos and a new grappling gun will also expand the ways players move through the environment.

New party members and FITS customization

Cid Highwind and Vincent Valentine will join the roster as newly playable party members. Each character will bring distinct combat roles and abilities, giving players more options when building a team for the final chapter’s battles.

The combat system will continue the series’ mix of real-time action and command-based decisions. Players will be able to switch between party members, issue commands through Tactical Mode, and combine powerful abilities and synergies against threats including Sephiroth and the Weapons.

Party preparation will also cover weapons, armor, skills, materia, and FITS. The new system adds class-based abilities and special outfits, allowing players to adjust their builds around different playstyles and encounters.

April 8, 2027 now gives the remake project’s final chapter a clear release target, with physical and digital editions confirmed for the same day. Tell us what you think in the comments, and follow us on X, Bluesky, YouTube, Instagram, Steam, and Telegram.
