Square Enix’s forthcoming “Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth” has undoubtedly become the talk of Tokyo Game Show 2023. With hands-on gameplay sessions and a plethora of new reveals, fans around the world are eagerly anticipating the game’s release.
The “Fated Beginnings: Cloud and Sephiroth” segment is a nostalgic trip back to Nibelheim, albeit with some surprises. While long-time players are well aware of the unfortunate fate of Nibelheim, this gameplay showcases Cloud and Sephiroth cooperating, with Tifa accompanying them. This collaborative effort is an unexpected twist for many and makes for riveting gameplay.
The most notable revelation is that Sephiroth, one of the franchise’s most iconic antagonists, is a playable character in this section. Showcasing his power and finesse, players can control Sephiroth to deliver devastating attacks. The gameplay area has interactive elements, such as climbable areas and treasure chests. The culmination of this section pits players against the formidable Materia Guardian.
In the “World of FF7 Rebirth: Junon Area,” we follow Cloud, Aerith, Tifa, Barret, and Red XIII in their escapades post the events of “Final Fantasy 7 Remake.” Junon, limited in scope in the original game, has received an expansive revamp. Players can explore the region, ride customizable Chocobos, and partake in various missions. Square Enix reassured fans, during a conversation with Polygon, that the area’s full version would be significantly more extensive than the hands-on demo.
One of the highlights is the journey to Under Junon, where players face the colossal “Terror of the Deep” boss. During these events, Yuffie Kisaragi, the vibrant Wutai ninja, also makes her appearance. As players wander the landscapes, they’ll face formidable “Fiends,” serving as elite challenges. New synergy attacks will be crucial in handling these threats.
