FBC: Firebreak has just received a substantial update that focuses on making the game easier to understand and more satisfying to play. Remedy Entertainment’s patch 1.004.001, arriving for consoles and PC, tweaks audio cues, user interface, movement, combat sounds, and a bunch of bug fixes. If you’ve been feeling like some sounds were missing their punch or the HUD was a bit confusing, this might help a lot.

So, what exactly did Remedy change?

Audio Improvements

  • Weapons now sound more powerful and impactful, which really amps up the combat feel.
  • Player sounds for melee, picking up items, and movement have been polished for a more natural presence.
  • very important gameplay audio feedback got sharper — things like enemy damage, shield and health sounds, spawn alerts are clearer.
  • Spatial audio clarity received a boost, making it easier to tell where threats are coming from. That’s a big deal in tense moments.
  • Pickup sounds for Lost Assets and Research Samples are less annoying and have more variety, so they blend better in the soundscape.
  • Ambient sounds got some love too: fans powering up in Hot Fix and using faucets or ammo stations are now more audible, plus the BOOMbox has new sound effects when broken or turned off.
  • New or updated effects for objects like the resonator panel and new enemy death types add to the atmosphere.
  • General audio quality was improved across the board.

User Interface & Tutorials

  • Tutorial prompts now appear sooner or only when relevant, which should save you from unnecessary clutter.
  • HUD clarity has been improved, making on-screen info easier to read and understand.
  • Fixed bugs related to objective tracking, Crisis Kit selection, and unlock notifications.
  • UI scaling and text display issues in various languages were corrected.
  • Visual tweaks to Hank’s speech window and Corrupted Item highlighting fix some flickering problems.
  • Players can no longer move around Requisitions and Research menus during tutorials — finally, no accidental misclicks there.
  • The ping system got a neat update: you can now ping grenades and ammo boxes. Handy, right?
  • Fixed an annoying bug where the match end screen showed the wrong Crisis Kit after switching it mid-job.

Visual Effects & Graphics

  • New damage effects added for power and repair emergencies to better show when something’s getting hit.
  • Powerful Enemy overshields and death now have fresh visual effects.
  • Fixed a nasty distortion flare effect in Meltdown mode and a lingering pink goo visual bug in Frequency Shift after player death.
  • Submachine Gun models now display correctly in third-person view.
  • Player backpacks got improved textures and geometry.
  • Lost Assets no longer get stuck in walls or ceilings when a player dies in a Shelter.
  • On PC, enabling DLSS now correctly disables Global Reflections and SSAO to avoid visual glitches.

Player Movement & Physics

  • Fixed rare cases of players getting stuck or falling out of bounds.
  • Revive interactions and world object interactions in tight spots are more dependable.

Game Progression & Unlocks

  • PlayStation 5 trophy visibility issues fixed.
  • Perk unlocking and mission progression reset bugs addressed.
  • The Hunter Gatherer perk now consistently picks up all Lost Assets dropped by Powerful Enemies.
  • Pocket Dimension perk correctly increases ammo reserves again.
  • Desperate Measures perk no longer activates if you still have ammo left.
  • Greasy Fingers perk now properly speeds up equipment swapping.

Enemies & Combat

  • Tutorials for Crisis Kit features are clearer.
  • The Duck Corrupted Item now follows players correctly — quack!
  • Fixed an issue where you could push the Trooper Powerful Enemy out-of-bounds in Paper Chase Zone 3.
  • Powerful Enemies in Ground Control can no longer survive falling out of the jobsite and block progress.
  • Hiss Breaker enemy now properly takes Shock harmful condition damage when hitting its weak spot.

Multiplayer & Connectivity

  • Session stability improvements make reconnecting and rejoining Quick Play matches smoother.
  • Visual bugs in loading screens, objective markers, and nameplates fixed.
  • Backend errors and party state inconsistencies during match transitions addressed.

Items & World Objects

  • In Ground Control, fixed cases where Pearls required to progress were missing.
  • Healing from faucets now happens a bit slower but heals the same overall.
  • DualSense controller vibration works properly on Windows PC now.

This patch is pretty packed with changes that might have flown under your radar but do make a difference when you’re in the thick of it. No word on when the first new content drop is coming, but you can bet we’ll keep an eye out and bring you the details.
