Fallout 76’s Slasher Update Will Bring a Pint-Sized Killer Mystery to Appalachia on September 15
The multi-week investigation will feature emergency broadcasts, cultist-filled Infestations, new Daily Ops challenges, and grave digging.
Fallout 76 will bring a new mystery to Appalachia when The Slasher update arrives on September 15. Bethesda detailed the story and its upcoming activities in an official announcement.
Creative Director Jon Rush and Senior Community Manager Richard Stanford introduce a case built around a string of grisly crimes. Each scene bears the mark of the infamous Pint-Sized Slasher, a diminutive serial killer from the Pre-War era. The question is whether the urban legend has returned or if devoted copycats are behind the violence.
The Slasher investigation will unfold across several weeks
Players will receive new leads through Breaking News emergency broadcasts as the investigation develops. The September 15 launch begins a multi-stage Slasher rollout that will continue across the fall.
The search will send players into Infestations filled with Slasher-worshipping cultists. New Daily Ops challenges will join the activity rotation, while grave digging will provide another way to uncover what happened. Together, these tasks will gradually reveal the truth behind the supposed revival.
Season 26 brings a Blood Moon theme
The update will also launch Season 26, titled Beware the Blood Moon. Players will earn S.C.O.R.E. by playing the game, then collect Tickets to redeem for seasonal rewards with a creepy theme.
The reward lineup includes the Batty Skirt, Blood Moon Power Armor Paint, Creepy Cultist Well, and Blood Moon Weather Control Station. More rewards will be available through Legacy Seasons, which Bethesda explains in its Legacy Seasons announcement.
