Fading Echo launches on PS5 on Sept. 22 with a demo and reality-bending combat

One can turn into water, combine Æther with lava and toxic waste, and cross alternate versions of Corel while fighting the Paradox.

Fading Echo launches on PlayStation 5 on Sept. 22, bringing a single-player action-adventure RPG built around elemental powers, environmental puzzles, and a fractured world that can be viewed from more than one reality. Players will also be able to try a demo on PS5 today.

Emeteria’s launch post on the PlayStation Blog introduces One, a young Legend trying to save Corel from the Paradox. The mysterious force is consuming the world, leaving behind floating islands, damaged landscapes, and alternate versions of familiar places.

Æther turns movement into a combat tool

One’s water-based power, known as Æther, is useful far beyond a standard attack. She can become a living blob, build momentum, surf through pipes, squeeze through narrow gaps, and launch herself across the environment. Reaching a high position can also set up a water-bomb attack against enemies below.

Æther can also drench enemies and alter the battlefield. Water reacts with lava, toxic waste, and Paradox corruption, creating opportunities to conduct energy through targets, solidify parts of the environment, or trigger chain reactions. The system is designed to leave room for different solutions instead of pushing players toward one fixed attack sequence.

Fading Echo’s launch video offers a closer look at how those powers work together in combat and traversal.

Alternate realities open new paths through Corel

Reality changes are just as important outside combat. A route blocked in one version of an area may be open in another, while a puzzle element can exist on the opposite side of a reality change. Switching perspectives can also alter the resources, hazards, and elemental reactions available during a fight.

One’s abilities and the world systems are meant to work together. Movement can create a better attack angle, an elemental reaction can change the terrain, and a reality change can make a previously difficult encounter more manageable. The same approach can also reveal a new route through the game’s floating islands and fractured spaces.

One faces the Paradox with unlikely allies

Corel’s spreading corruption is led by Maddock, the ruthless head of the Paradox on the world. One will meet allies along the way, including people motivated by loyalty, guilt, or a lack of anywhere else to go. Their stories connect with One’s own effort to uncover her past and find a way to protect Corel’s future.
