Euro Truck Simulator 2 has introduced an Experimental Beta featuring a new asynchronous loading system to reduce stuttering and improve the overall driving experience. This update changes how the game loads and processes data in real time, running asset loading in the background to keep gameplay and loading screens uninterrupted.
The developers warn that this system is complex and may cause unexpected issues, such as frame rate drops, unusual loading sequences, or problems with features like fast travel. Testing across various hardware setups is crucial to identifying and fixing potential problems.
Players interested in participating can access the Experimental Beta branch on Steam by selecting it under the Betas tab in the game’s properties. Creating a new profile for this beta is strongly recommended to avoid risking existing save files.
Feedback on any bugs or unusual behavior, including hardware details and the game.log.txt file, to assist with troubleshooting, is requested via the official forums.
Additional Features in the Experimental Beta
Besides the asynchronous loading system, this beta includes early versions of features planned for the upcoming 1.55 update:
- Driving Academy: Truck Driving Proficiency – A new set of challenges designed to test driving skills.
- Mail Screen Redesign – A cleaner layout with improved usability, especially for controller users.
- World Map Improvement – Pressing the F key now centers the map on the truck’s current position.
The developers ask that feedback focus primarily on the asynchronous loading system during this phase, with other features to be addressed in the upcoming Open Beta.
We thank all players who join the Experimental Beta and contribute feedback to improve Euro Truck Simulator 2.
