Euro Truck Simulator 2’s 1.57 open beta is available now on Steam for PC, and it packs a long list of updates aimed at visuals, vehicles, and cargo systems. The update refreshes the Scandinavia DLC, adds HDR support and brightness calibration, brings dynamic cargo loading and unloading to ETS2, upgrades the Scania R and S lines with SUPER and 770 V8 options plus Smart Dash interiors, and expands DLC trailer and special transport content.
The Scandinavia refresh is a full visual and map pass. Expect updated textures, vegetation, road assets, new rest stops and fuel stations, and rebuilt junctions on major corridors in Denmark and Sweden. New cities include Aarhus in Denmark and Karlstad in Sweden, plus a rebuilt Copenhagen with modern infrastructure. This work is intended to make travelling through Scandinavia feel up to date ahead of the Nordic Horizons content, and players can try the changes now in the open beta.
HDR and visual setup
HDR (High Dynamic Range) support arrives in this build, with an HDR calibration slider and a new brightness setup screen that previews adjustments on in-game images. If your display supports HDR, the game will detect it and enable the option automatically. There are also improvements to the RGB paint picker and reworked company logos for customisation.
Dynamic cargo loading and unloading
Dynamic loading and unloading, familiar to American Truck Simulator players, is coming to ETS2 in selected depots and prefab sites. The initial rollout focuses on logging trailers and materials like Logs, Large Tubes, and Iron Pipes, where handlers or crawler excavators will load or unload your trailer automatically when you park in the designated area. The system will expand to more cargo types and locations over time.
More background on the dynamic cargo feature is available in the developer blog post about dynamic cargo loading.
Scania R/S SUPER and Smart Dash
The Scania R and S models get a major mechanical and cosmetic update. New SUPER engines and V8 powertrains (up to 770 hp) join Opticruise transmissions, while interior options include the new Smart Dash and Smart Dash Advanced variants. Official Scania SUPER and 770 paint jobs and badges are part of the package.
Details are expanded in the Scania update blog post on the Scania R & S update.
Special Transport DLC and Krone trailers
Owners of the Special Transport DLC get two new massive cargoes: a 30-meter Wind Turbine Blade hauled on a 4-axle steerable trailer, and an Underground Loader carried on a 6-axle low loader. Routes include Rostock to Berlin and Nordic Horizons runs such as Jyvaeskyla to Vaasa, plus Dortmund to Hannover and Narvik to Kiruna for the heavy loader jobs.
The Krone Trailer Pack receives city-focused variants built with steerable axles for tighter manoeuvring. New entries include the Profi Liner City, Cool Liner City, Dry Liner City, and Profi Liner HCT.
UI and quality of life
Cursor navigation has been tweaked so pointer speed is consistent across resolutions, and controller cursor control feels snappier. The update also refreshes player company logos and expands paint job options with full RGB picking.
