Starting a fresh wipe in Escape from Tarkov can feel a bit like jumping into a cold pool, shocking and exhilarating all at once. You’re not just up against other players, it’s the environment, loot mechanics, and your instincts that you need to consider. Whether you’re figuring out where to stash all that gear or dodging bullets, there’s a lot to keep track of!

This time, I have some practical tips to help you get your footing soon. Let’s jump right into it!

Best Tips for a New Wipe

If you’re new to Tarkov, or it’s been a while since your last raid, these tips will give you an edge immediately.

Have No Gear Fear At All

You don’t have to worry about being too precious with your gear at the start of a wipe. Go ahead and use those T4 rigs and vests! Most players are hesitant to risk their better equipment early on. This gives you an advantage, you’ll be more resilient than those running around in PACA vests.

Understand the Mechanics

Tarkov has evolved quite a bit over recent years. Familiarize yourself with changes like inertia from update 0.12.12.0, which affects movement speed based on the weight carried. Knowing how mechanics work can save your life during tense moments.

  • Healing: Know what medkits do what.
  • Inventory management: Keep things organized for quick access.
  • Insurance: Understand how this works before heading out.
  • Weapons and ammunition: Get familiar with available options early on.

Your goal is survival and success, so here are some key items worth hunting down immediately.

Needed Loot Early Wipe

Below, you can find the necessary found-in-raid items you need to pick up and keep in your inventory, at least for the first couple of quests and hideout upgrades. All of these can be found on Woods.

  • x3 Salewa first aid kit
  • x3 Gas Analyzers
  • x3 Secure Flash Drive
  • x2 Can of beef stew (Large)
  • x2 Emelya rye croutons
  • x4 Morphine Injector
  • Bolts
  • Screw Nuts
  • Duct Tapes
  • Corrugated Hose
  • Pack of Nails
  • Classic Matches
  • Phase control relay
  • Pile of meds
  • Disposable syringe
  • Slim diary
  • Diary
  • Tech manual
  • Horse figurine
  • Chainlet
  • Soap
  • Toilet Paper
  • Crickent lighter
  • Spark plug
  • Medical bloodset
  • Light bulb
  • and plenty of others that will help you construct your hideout and upgrade it as fast as possible now since the FLEA Market has been banned.

The early game is all about smart choices. Decide what loot is worth grabbing versus what can be left behind without regret.

Build Up Your Hideout ASAP

Your Hideout offers benefits crucial for long-term success, from crafting items to enhancing skills. The faster you build it up, the more advantages you’ll have later on!

  • The Workbench: Perfect for customizing weapons.
  • The Medstation: This helps regen health quickly!
  • The Intelligence Center: A money boost awaits!

What strategies will you try? Until next time, happy gaming!
