If you haven’t heard just yet, today, the developer of Escape From Tarkov, Battlestate Games, has released a new game edition, and judging by it, I can just say that the developer needs money. As they have said previously, a new game edition will replace the Edge of Darkness, so we got “Unheard,” which is basically its replacement.
Let’s discuss it a bit more now that the update is live and we have purchased the new edition.
Single Player or Co-Op Tarkov
So, what should you know about this edition? First and foremost, it adds a new PvE game mode that has no connection to the PvP game mode. The items listed within the details that are supposed to arrive with the package once you purchase it, are not included in the PvE client (at least they were not there for me).
Being a completely separate edition and not related to PvP, this speaks of its low values. Combined with the insane pricing on the product, it’s just nonsense, especially for those who already own the EoD edition. I’ve been playing and covering Escape From Tarkov since 2017, and all I can say is that this is a massive blow to its fan base. I stand by what I said, and I’ve been quite supportive of BSG in the past couple of years, as I love EFT. Until things change, this is unlikely the purchase we’re looking for.
I really don’t know how exactly they planned to execute this and put a price tag this high on a product that’s definitely not worth the money. Most of the players have hoped and believed that this OFFLINE mode would allow them to cheese quests and get some free roubles, but it turns out that it’s completely useless, and the only thing you can do is play offline and complete all the quests. Basically all you can do is discover Tarkov deeply, if you haven’t discovered it so far.
My verdict
At the time of this writing, this edition is not worth the money, so you shouldn’t purchase it, at all. The only thing that is maybe worth, is the in-game items you get. But is Scav Junk Box and the additional PMC pockets really worth that much? Not really. Keep in mind that this is early review, and I’ll surely update it the longer I toy with it.
I’ll be updating this, and if I find anything worthy (which I doubt), I’ll definitely update this.
