The latest Escape From Tarkov patch notes from Battlestate Games reduce enemy aim and slow detection after two months of the studio’s hardcore wipe. There’s confirmation that the game’s 1.0 launch is slated for Saturday, November 15, but the update now focuses on bot behaviour ahead of that milestone.
The patch increases how long AI soldiers take to spot players – both the initial detection and repeated checks after losing sight – and it intentionally slows aiming. Detection angles were adjusted, and Battlestate says it fixed “the AI detection system through non-transparent obstacles in certain conditions.” The AI will no longer aim for the head if it hasn’t seen the player for at least 15 seconds, which should reduce sudden one-shot deaths. These changes apply to regular bots of any difficulty, sniper scavs, raiders, rogues, PvE PMC bots, boss guards, and most of the bosses.
Some bosses remain exceptions, with “certain bosses like Zryachiy and Goons” keeping their old field of view and reaction times, so players still face high-risk encounters. The update also touches economy and progression: maximum Flea Market offer slots were raised to two, the full item range returned for the Peacekeeper and Jaeger LL4, and the experience multiplier for finishing a raid as Killed in Action or Missing in Action was increased. The broader context includes the approaching launch window for Escape From Tarkov Steam availability, and the patch looks aimed at making raids feel less randomly fatal while keeping stakes high. The game’s reputation as one of the best FPS games rests on tension so that these adjustments will be watched closely.

There is still uncertainty about whether the adjustments will feel balanced in live play – nerfing aim and slowing detection reduces cheap deaths, but it also risks making bots feel less threatening. Play patterns may shift; players who relied on extreme caution might find raids easier, while others could welcome clearer windows to reposition. Expect testing to reveal whether the patch hits the intended middle ground.
