Escape From Tarkov “Missing Informant” Quest Guide
Find the Backup hideout key, search the informant's second hideout for his journal, then deliver it to Lightkeeper.
The Backup hideout key is the practical bottleneck in Missing Informant. Find it in the first hideout to open the second, where the informant’s journal can spawn in several locations. The journal only appears while the quest is active, and you lose it if you fail to extract after picking it up.
Requirements and objectives
Missing Informant unlocks 10 hours after you complete Information Source. Its objectives are:
- Locate the informant’s hideout on Streets of Tarkov.
- (Optional) Obtain the Backup hideout key.
- Locate the informant’s backup hideout.
- Obtain the informant’s journal.
- Bring the information to Lightkeeper.
The key pickup is marked as an optional objective, but the key itself is required to enter the backup hideout. Treat the optional label as applying to the objective, not to access.

How to complete Missing Informant
Find the key in the first hideout
On Streets of Tarkov, locate the electrical operation room behind the small cinema. Search the sports bag inside for the Backup hideout key. The key has a guaranteed spawn in that bag every raid.
Enter the backup hideout and search for the journal
Use the key to open the second hideout, located inside the stairs to the cinema. The journal has multiple spawns in the hideout. Check these possible locations:
- Under the jacket pile on the ground to the right after entering.
- Under the rubble beside a package in the back right.
- Under a blue trash bag on the ground beside the shelf in the back left.
Extract and hand over the journal
After picking up the journal, extract with it and bring the information to Lightkeeper. If you fail to extract, the journal is lost.

- 1 Microcontroller board.
- Unlocks the Microcontroller board barter at Mechanic LL4.
