Battlestate Games has announced a new stash-related change coming in one of the upcoming updates for Escape From Tarkov. All containers will have a stacking limit to prevent players from nesting items indefinitely. The decision aims to improve performance and avoid profiles from becoming stuck during the loading process.
According to the studio, this issue primarily affects PvE players who stack 7 or more containers inside one another, such as backpacks within backpacks. Once the new limit is enforced, any items exceeding the limit will be automatically deleted from the stash.
“This is necessary to avoid situations where players would get stuck on the profile loading screen due to excessive amount of items in the stash,” Battlestate stated.
To prevent the loss of valuable items, players are strongly encouraged to reorganize their stash before the change is deployed. If gear is lost after the update, Battlestate confirmed that compensation will be provided to all affected accounts.
So now, before doing this, you must ensure the following:
- Inspect all nested containers (especially backpacks) in your stash
- Avoid stacking more than 6 items deep inside each other
- Pull out high-value gear from deep stack chains to be safe
- Wait for further clarification or limits once the patch notes are live
This change marks another step toward optimizing Tarkov’s backend systems as they continue to evolve. While PvP players likely won’t feel much of an impact, dedicated PvE grinders and loot goblins should take this warning seriously before their gear disappears into the void.
