Escape from Tarkov Battle Pass Document Spawns May Have Been Cut in Half

A dated game-data comparison shows several document entries moving from six possible in-raid spawns to three, with Woods facing the biggest search problem.

Escape from Tarkov‘s Battle Pass document hunt may have just become much tougher. An apparent game-data comparison shows the number of available documents on each map dropping from six to three, with the two document types now split into a two-and-one rarity arrangement.

Previously, each map had three spawns for both document types. The new values appear to leave two documents of one type and a single document of the other, cutting the total number of possible documents in half before a raid even begins.

A dated diff adds more detail to the apparent change. It is timestamped August 6, 2026, at 4:34 PM EDT, identifies client/globals/response.json as the changed file, and is marked as containing eight changes. The listed entries include Project documentation, Blueprints and technical documentation, Test documentation, User documentation, Medical documents, and Technical documentation.

Several visible rows show an old MaxInRaid value of six replaced by a new value of three. Those values appear under the document restriction settings, so the change would affect how many copies can spawn during raids rather than changing the items themselves.

The visible comparison includes Factory Day, Customs, and Woods. On Customs and Woods, the displayed values show one document category moving from three spawns to two, while another falls from three to one. Factory Day also shows a lower value for Project documentation.

Woods could be the biggest problem

Lower spawn counts are especially rough on large maps such as Woods. Even when players know which document type they need, fewer possible locations means more raids can end without a usable find. That makes Battle Pass progress depend more heavily on luck and repeated searches.

The change also affects how players plan their document runs. Our Battle Pass document guide maps out the items needed across the pass, but a checklist cannot solve a spawn-rate problem. Players may now need more time to locate the documents required for later pages.

The criticism is aimed at the way progression was slowed. A limit on how many documents a player could extract would reduce progress without making the items themselves harder to locate. Cutting the spawns instead affects the search from the moment a raid starts.

Battlestate Games has not confirmed whether these values are live, intentional, or part of a temporary data change. Until the numbers receive official confirmation or are consistently verified in-game, the apparent reduction should be treated as unverified.
