Escape From Tarkov, the extraction shooter that carved out a distinct niche since its alpha days, has remained in beta for years. I remember when I purchased my copy back in 2017, and since then, the game gone a loooong way. Battlestate Games has been tweaking and expanding the experience since 2016, but Tarkov 1.0 is still some way off, with plans shaping up for what promises to be a major milestone.
Tarkov 1.0
Simply put, Tarkov 1.0 will mark Escape from Tarkov’s first official release beyond beta status. Until now, its version numbers have hovered below that threshold, currently at 0.16, reflecting numerous updates but never crossing into full release. Once Lighthouse drops, we will chart into new Escape From Tarkov territory. It is precisely when I will dive back into the game, but very seriously, and I cannot wait for it.
Battlestate Games has steadily grown Escape from Tarkov’s foundation over many years, and here’s what it has and also what’s coming when 1.0 kicks off:
- A dedicated storyline aimed at finally allowing players to Escape From Tarkov. Completing this story might reset your character through a wipe and introduce a ‘Prestige’ system for repeated runs.
- Dynamic Events that will keep the players on their toes.
- The introduction of clans and alliances adds new social dynamics, missing so far from the game’s ecosystem.
- An expansion of factions, which has been one of the core ways
- More downloadable content (DLC), expansions of player hideouts offering deeper customization or base-building and crafting options.
- New Maps and their expansions, with Lighthouse coming firsthand after 1.0
- The usual roster of fresh weapons, updated equipment mechanics, tweaks to gameplay systems, and the iterative improvements fans expect with each major patch.
No exact date exists yet for the arrival of Tarkov 1.0, but Battlestate Games has outlined an approximate window targeting sometime in late 2025. If I were to guess, I’d definitely say Q4 2025 or somewhere before New Year’s Eve. Their public roadmap includes four major updates leading up to this launch phase, plus new story-driven missions featuring cutscenes, meaning narrative elements may finally take center stage alongside gameplay refinements. It’s gonna be fun and I cannot wait for it!
