Escape from Playtime‘s open beta is live on Steam through 6 p.m. PT on Sunday, Oct. 4, giving players an early chance to try Mob Entertainment’s co-op survival horror ahead of its October 21 Early Access launch. Squads can include up to eight players, with groups of at least four recommended. Players can access the test through the game’s Steam page.
Teams play as tiny Critters inside the Playtime Co. factory, where rejected creations stalk the halls. Each group scavenges for resources while exploring a factory map that changes with every run. That procedural layout separates the spin-off from Poppy Playtime‘s more linear chapters and asks teams to adapt instead of relying on the same route each time. Proximity chat lets players talk as they explore, though coordinating can become harder when teammates disappear into the darkness.
Mob describes the beta build as containing work-in-progress elements and experimental features, with balance still being tested. A survey becomes available after a session so players can send feedback that will help shape the launch build and future development. The details appear in the studio’s official Steam beta announcement.
A PC Gamer playtest describes the factory escape as a series of shifts. Players gather supplies for a cart, and collecting enough lets the group move on to the next shift. Completing every shift is the way out.
Toy robots charge when they spot players and explode on contact. A teammate can disable one by hitting it in the back of the head with a thrown object. Cat Bee can latch onto a player and inflict poison until an ally knocks it off.
Miss Delight reacts to flashlights. The towering toy kills players she catches, while a beam can hold her in place as the battery drains. Keeping her still turns the flashlight into a limited escape tool, not a permanent solution.
Mob’s Steam listing puts the Early Access launch on October 21, with eight playable characters, a starter zone, and a selection of enemies. Mob plans to add more zones and enemies over time.
