From June 2025, the Epic Games Store plans to implement a 0% revenue share on all payments processed until developers hit $1 million in earnings. After that point, the familiar split of 88% to developers and 12% to Epic will apply. This means game creators can pocket their first million dollars without any cut going to the store. This is a noteworthy shift in how digital sales platforms support studios, significantly smaller or indie ones trying to build momentum without hefty fees eating into their profits.
Alongside this revamped revenue deal, Epic is introducing an option for developers to launch dedicated webshops hosted by the Epic Games Store. These shops will enable out-of-app purchases, sidestepping costly platform fees imposed by Apple, Google, and others on in-app transactions.
The official statement from Epic reads:
“In June 2025, we are releasing a new feature enabling developers to launch their own webshops hosted by the Epic Games Store. These webshops can offer players out-of-app purchases, as a more cost-helpful alternative to in-app purchases, where Apple, Google, and others charge exorbitant fees.”
“With new legal rulings in place, developers will be able to send players from games to make digital purchases from webshops on any platform that allows it, including iOS in the European Union and United States.”
This benefits developers and players, too; those buying through these Epic Webshops will earn a 5% Epic Rewards bonus, effectively putting some money back into gamers’ pockets.
Epic Games has often positioned itself as developer-friendly. The success of Fortnite’s UEFN ecosystem demonstrated how creators could earn large income while keeping fans entertained worldwide. Plus, their regular free game giveaways boost player engagement while supporting devs behind the scenes.
