Elder Scrolls Online says there will be no more Annual Chapters

Elder Scrolls Online

So, here’s a little turn of events in Elder Scrolls Online. ZeniMax Online Studios revealed a real surprise for all the fans of Elder Scrolls Online. Starting in 2025, they’re simply saying goodbye to those big annual chapter updates we’ve all come to know and love since 2017. I’m looking at you, Morrowind, right through to the latest Gold Road.

Instead of waiting for June every year like clockwork, they opt for a more relaxed season-based approach. Think of it as swapping that old rusty horse for a shiny new mount. You can enjoy fresh content sprinkled throughout the year instead of cramming it all into one chaotic launch window.

As the developers said in a post recently.

At the end of last year, we gave a slight heads up that we would be shaking things up.

We will still do lots of story content, but now, looking into 2025, we need to concentrate on different types of ESO players. So, we are putting Chapters aside and will be focusing on new types of content and a new release philosophy.

Over the course of 2025 we will be moving more towards a seasonal content model and away from launching massive content updates once a year as we did with Chapters. We will be talking much more about this in the future; but in 2025 expect to see named Seasons of three or six months duration with a mix of themed story content, events, store items, dungeons and more.

This means no significant update yearly; instead, get ready for chunks every few months! Firor called this change community-led, the goal is to keep things interesting. Because let’s face it, we all love surprises… unless they come wrapped in hours of grinding!

The roadmap ahead looks ambitious too! The dev team is preparing for exciting new storylines within existing regions while improving newcomers’ experiences. They’ve got their sights set on revamping favorite factions like The Dark Brotherhood and Thieves Guild, so it’s not bad if you ask me!

My goal is to deliver fresh news and updates, but most of the time I want to work on guides. Since I have rebooted this website, I am planning on making it huge. Just you wait!
