Elden Ring’s upcoming expansion, Shadow of the Erdtree, appears to be inching closer to release. It’s been almost a year since FromSoftware unveiled plans for this significant addition to Elden Ring. While specifics about its content and release date have been sparse, recent developments hint at progress.
Updates to the game’s Steam page, particularly within its paid DLC section, suggest that marketing efforts for Shadow of the Erdtree might soon ramp up. Observations from SteamDB indicate that the expansion’s development could be nearing completion.
Recently, Elden Ring’s Steam page has seen a flurry of updates. Notably, the changelog includes entries tagged with “qa-release” and “qa-debug”, signaling that the final stages of quality assurance testing are likely underway, involving both in-house and external testing teams.
Despite these hopeful signs, some indicators suggest a longer wait. FromSoftware maintains that development is on track. Furthermore, Kadokawa, the parent company of FromSoftware, stated that the expansion would not be released within this fiscal year, meaning a launch date post-April 1, 2024, is more likely.
