Update: The toxic zone event is now live. Details and how to power through it can be found here.
It was about time we got to see what appears to be a possible glimpse of the next pre-wipe event coming to Escape From Tarkov. Shortly after the technical update, many people believed that we would get another official tweet from Battlestate Games revealing the new event. Well, unlike before, this one needs a bit longer to elaborate in its entirety. But, worry not, there has been a new data mine, which could imply to toxic or contaminated zones within the Tarkov region.
Just a quick heads-up: After today’s technical update, there seems to be something new coming to the game and might be connected to the fourth pre-wipe event. There has been a new health-effect tag named LethalIntoxication, which could be related to a toxic zone similar to the one DayZ has.
Could this be coming to Escape From Tarkov as a new feature? The latest changes have been revealed by Tarkov-Changes, which claims this new health effect has multiple additional attributes to it that allow us to pinpoint its purpose. It’s likely to imbue something like ticking damage or sickness upon entering the zone. The new health effect confirms that the sickness will stay upon death and require 4270 roubles for cleansing services. You can find more details about it below:

This shouldn’t be a surprise, as it has been discussed previously by the developer which means contaminated zones have been planned for release, eventually. However, we still haven’t seen them in action and will have to wait a bit longer to realize their presence. Will there be high-value loot there, or else?
