Ok, so we’re about to be hit by a new Escape From Tarkov wipe, and we’re more than ready to be thrown into a long and tiring gaming session. With that said, I felt like I wanted to share some early wipe tips that would help the players, and since I’ve been playing it since 2017, I hope I will help you with this one. Should you like it or not, it’s up to you, but generally, it should offer some benefits that could give you an edge over others. A directive, guide that should help you mitigate some of the early wipe problems and propel you through the quests faster and easier.
Escape From Tarkov Early Wipe Guide
A long and tiring intro is usually not the way to go, since more of you probably want to jump into the details. Reading a whole poem about it won’t make a difference in the slightest, and definitely does not help in the long run. I know you’re impatient, and so do I.
Picking up your character
It’s an early wipe. You just started the game for the first time and are being thrown to the starting screen in EFT, where you get to choose your main faction. That is either USEC or BEAR. I’d advise you to go with USEC because they have the only character voice line that does not make you breathe heavily when wearing a visor. Unless that bug is fixed in the next wipe, then this is still a vital choice. We have already talked about it before.
Another reason why USEC is a better choice at the moment is also the Lighthouse rogue faction, which is friendlier towards the USEC faction. BEARs are being engaged from a farther distance, while USECs can lurk closer without being shot at unless you make a mistake.
That buggy character’s voice is named Josh, so make sure you pick him up.
After doing this, even if you turn OFF the visor in a raid and turn it back ON, it won’t impact your breathing, and your character will be completely silent. The only panting you’d hear is when you lose your stamina or before a complete breakdown. It offers a decent advantage over others, and using it would encourage BSG to fix it ASAP. But, it hasn’t been fixed for multiple wipes after, so yeah, using JOSH is always beneficial.
Do not worry, if you pick up the wrong character voice you can always change it later. Follow this for more info:
- Go to settings.
- Click on the “Audio” tab.
- Set Character voice language to Josh and click change.
- Save your settings and witness the outcome. Check the image below:
First map and unlocking Jaeger since the get-go
Examine all possible items you can. This will grant you experience and allow you to reach level 2, which is just one level short of unlocking the Introduction quest that tells you to pick up the letter from Woods. Doing this will make it easier for you to reach level 3, making Woods our destined map. If you do not know where to find the letter, check the guide below. Just to mention, we have tons of Escape From Tarkov guides that could help you pinpoint items and necessary objectives within the Norvinsk region. So feel free to use the Guides section.
Gearing up for the first map
You’re going to Woods, so bring anything you want, you shouldn’t be scared or have gear fear since it’s early wipe. Never have Gear Fear, as it is the most fierce opponent you’ll ever meet in the game. I will bring an M4, remove the carry handle, and equip a scope for whatever armor’s offered to me (EoD edition). Then, I will complete the Introduction quest as mentioned above. This would already give you edge over others. After that, you continue with the quests offered by other traders.
- Unlocking Jaeger means you can purchase the 2x MP-133 12ga shotguns required for the Debut quest.
Woods will be one of the maps that will still demand your presence, as the camps offer not only food but also items that are required for quests, such as Salewa, USBs (at the tent close to the sawmill), Gas Analyzers, including food and a variety of beverages so you could survive for a longer period. In this case, you won’t spend extra money purchasing consumables to satisfy your hunger and thirst. That makes Woods a great option, and you will definitely return to it for yet another quest item collection. Remember, do not forget to pick up the Jaeger letter.
