- Authenticity: Each pass play has distinct protection set by default. For example:
- Under Center plays use base protection.
- Gun formations use “empty” protection if all pass-eligible players run routes, with half-slide protections adjusted based on the play type.
- Responsiveness: You can adjust protection quickly by flicking the right stick, once for a half-slide, twice for a full slide left or right.
- Control: Flicking the right stick up lets you un-target a defender, which can be strategic if you want to leave someone unblocked based on your play call or opponent’s formation.
The developers aim to empower players to feel in control of their pass protection schemes, enabling more strategic decision-making.
While this update doesn’t squash every bug or add new content, it’s a steady start for EA Sports College Football 26. The team seems attentive to community input, which is promising for future patches.
