EA’s deal with Marvel isn’t fading away despite the cancellation of the Black Panther game and the closure of Cliffhanger Studios. At least three Marvel games remain in development, with an Iron Man game from Motive Studios leading the charge.
Three Marvel Games Still Coming from EA
According to IGN, EA Entertainment president Laura Miele confirmed the partnership with Marvel “remains strong” and that their “multi-title, long-term collaboration continues.”
A Marvel spokesperson also emphasized this is a “long-term creative collaboration” focused on original storytelling featuring favorite Marvel characters. Motive Studios is expected to develop the first game from this partnership, Iron Man. According to Marvel’s confirmation to IGN, at least three games are currently in development.
EA and Marvel Entertainment announced this multi-title collaboration in 2022, eager to deliver action-adventure games for consoles and PC. Despite the Black Panther project cancellation, the plan for three games hasn’t changed, at least not yet.
The Iron Man game promises an original story drawing from Tony Stark’s rich history, capturing his complexity, charisma, and inventive genius. The goal is to make players truly feel like Iron Man. Olivier Proulx, who worked on Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, leads the development team, supported by industry veterans Ian Frazier, Maëlenn Lumineau, and JF Poirier.
