The Battlefield 6 beta left a sour taste for some players, and EA and the studio behind the game have acknowledged that the menus were a problem and are working on fixes ahead of the release. Expect some improvements to settings and options, though the team warns the UI might still be rough at launch.
The biggest gripe people had was how fiddly the menus were during the match. Changing audio, swapping loadouts, or finding a playlist often meant fiddling around through layered tabs, which killed momentum and felt more suited for controllers than for PC and consoles. The main menu’s Netflix-like layout also made simple tasks feel fiddly.
Battlefield Studios’ technical director, Christian Bruhl, told the site that they’re listening to feedback and will patch things up where possible before launch. He was candid about the limits to what the team can change on short notice, and that some awkward bits might remain after the release.
“I can’t say exactly what we’ll fix. You know, we’re not going to rebuild our menu from scratch, obviously, between now and launch, but we are looking to improve [based on] some of the biggest feedback.”
Bruhl also said: “it’s probably still going to be a little bit clunky when we launch, but we’re going to continue to improve it going forward.”
Oh, it’s not all doom. The beta also helped the team identify more serious gameplay bugs and balance issues, such as reports of ‘super bullets’ that could one-shot players, which were investigated and addressed. Those gameplay fixes are arguably more urgent than spiffing up a visual layout, but both matter for first impressions.
Will menu problems ruin the launch for everyone? Probably not, but they might irritate players who adjust their sensitivity or audio settings between rounds. The likely bet is that the settings menu will see the most significant early changes, while the overall main-menu look may take longer to alter.
