The latest Dune: Awakening patch 1.1.0.17 is live, and it’s packed with some neat changes that could affect how you approach the Deep Desert. The update tweaks PvE and PvP zones, adjusts vehicle behavior, and introduces player reporting. It’s a must-download if you want to stay sharp out there!
Let’s get into what you should expect from this patch.
Deep Desert Changes
The big news is the expansion of the PvE area to cover the whole southern half of the Deep Desert map. This means if you’re not into PvP, you can finally roam more freely without constant interruptions. Imperial Testing Stations, caves, and other PvE spots have now shifted into this safer southern zone. However, some hotspots like Control Points and Shipwrecks remain PvP, creating little pockets of risk even in the PvE zone—kind of like what happens in Hagga Basin.
The update keeps the Risk vs Reward vibe alive by cranking up resource density the farther north you go. Bigger spice fields, more Control Points, and richer resource clusters are now concentrated in the northern PvP areas. Loot is also different: the southern PvE zone offers shared loot and typically one schematic per player, while the northern PvP zone dishes out more loot and multiple rare schematics—but it’s first come, first served.
Other balancing tweaks include:
- Plasteel plates now only spawn in PvP zones.
- The number of active medium spice fields dropped from 8 to 5, while small spice fields rose from 20 to 22.
- Titanium and Stravidium spawn rates decreased in PvE, with large deposits mainly in PvP areas.
- Resource hotspots in PvE have fewer nodes, and respawn times for Titanium and Stravidium increased from 30 to 45 minutes.
Some Imperial Testing Stations remain in PvP zones, so players wanting all schematics weekly might need to visit both areas. The loot rotates weekly, so if you skip PvP, you might still get what you want later through trading or the Exchange.
Vehicle Updates
Scout Ornithopters got some love here. Adding a Rocket Launcher Module now slows your ornithopter’s top speed—20% for Scouts, 10% for Assault types. The infocards have been updated to reflect this change. Also, if you exit an ornithopter mid-air, it will drop straight down instead of gliding away. This should cut down on those frustrating lost vehicles when disconnecting or accidentally jumping out mid-flight. There’s a known bug where if your vehicle lands in quicksand, you might struggle to interact with it, but the devs promise a fix in the next patch.
Visiting and Land Claiming
Restrictions on visiting other sietches have been lifted. Before, you had a “home” sietch and could visit others but couldn’t claim land there. Now, you can claim land in any sietch within your world. This might disrupt how players expand their territory or team up.
Technical and Stability Improvements
- Game stability has been improved overall.
- The latest NVIDIA driver is now checked at game launch to help with compatibility.
Player Reporting Added
One feature that’s long overdue: player reporting. You can now report toxic or disruptive players directly from the chat or the Inspect menu. Hopefully, this will help keep the community a bit cleaner.
Fixes
- Multiple exploits have been closed.
- Fixed an infinite loading screen issue caused by a network glitch.
- Addressed client freezes when switching Deep Desert servers.
- Players no longer get stuck in melee attacks due to corpses on the ground.
- Guild faction alignment now properly localized on the Guild Overview tab.
- Skipping the cinematic at “The Wreck of the Hephaestus” no longer causes a black screen.
- Sandbike schematics now correctly mention Imperial Testing Stations as a source.
- Fixed an ornithopter pilot service bug that allowed flying to Haga Bassin improperly.
- Emotes won’t be lost when respec’ing your skill tree anymore.
Wow, that’s quite a list, right? The balancing between PvE and PvP zones alone might change how you plan your next trip into the Deep Desert.
