Dragon’s Dogma 2 will add a tougher endgame mode for capped characters

Capcom has not announced when the Hard Mode will arrive, but the upcoming Dark Arisen expansion will already increase the challenge as players progress.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 will receive a new Hard Mode aimed at characters who have reached, or are close to reaching, the level cap. Capcom has confirmed the mode is in development, but it has not provided a release window.

The information comes from a Q&A published on the game’s Steam page. Game director Kento Kinoshita said the team is working on a mode that will offer a tougher test for players whose stats are already near their maximum.

Producer Naoto Oyama added that Capcom will share more details about the mode and its launch timing in a future update. For now, the announcement confirms the feature without explaining how it will change enemy strength, rewards, or other gameplay systems.

Dark Arisen will also push the difficulty upward

The upcoming Dark Arisen expansion is being designed with a wide range of player levels in mind. Its two expansion areas, Forsaken Dominion and Lost Rites, will feature battles intended to feel more demanding than those in the main game.

That challenge will build gradually rather than locking the entire expansion behind an endgame requirement. Capcom said enemy encounters will become harder as players move through the content, with the middle and later sections tuned to give even level-capped characters a worthwhile fight.

This means Dark Arisen should offer tougher encounters in its regular difficulty, while the separate Hard Mode will provide another option for players who have already mastered their builds and want an even harsher run. The expansion is still upcoming, and the new difficulty mode does not have a confirmed launch date.
