Dota 2 New Hero Release: Monkey King vs LoL’s Wukong

“Over the course of my journeys, I’ve been called many things, a warrior, an animal, a trickster, but of all the names I’ve been called one has always remained my favorite, KING.”

Personally, I think that this is going to be the most surprising and fun hero to be played. I am pretty sure some of you (if not all that play this kind of games) know him from League of Legends.

What do you think about this hero being released in Dota 2? Is it going to be like more fun to play than it than in LoL? Personally, I think it will be because at least some of the spells will be changed.

In League of Legends Wukong’s spells are:

Stone Skin

  • Cost: 40 Mana
  • Range: 650
  • Wukong’s next attack deals additional physical damage, gains range, and reduces the enemy’s Armor for a short duration.
  • Wukong’s next attack gains 125 range, deals 30/60/90/120/150 (+10% Attack Damage) bonus physical damage and reduces the enemy’s Armor by 10/15/20/25/30% for 3 seconds.

Decoy

  • Cost: 50/55/60/65/70 Mana
  • Range: 325
  • Wukong becomes invisible for a short duration, leaving behind a decoy that will deal Magic Damage to enemies near it when Wukong’s stealth expires.
  • Wukong becomes invisible for 1.5 seconds, leaving behind a decoy that will deal 70/115/160/205/250 (+60% Ability Power) Magic Damage to enemies near it after 1.5 seconds.

Nimbus Strike

  • Cost: 45/50/55/60/65 Mana
  • Range: 650
  • Wukong dashes to target enemy and sends out images to attack up to 2 additional enemies near his target, dealing physical damage to each enemy struck.
  • Wukong dashes to target enemy and sends out images to attack up to 2 additional enemies nearby. Each enemy struck takes 60/105/150/195/240 (+80% bonus Attack Damage) physical damage.
  • Wukong then gains 30/35/40/45/50% Attack Speed for 4 seconds.

Cyclone

  • Cost: 100 Mana
  • Range: 315
  • Wukong’s staff grows outward, and he spins it around, dealing damage and knocking up enemies. Wukong gains Movement Speed over the duration of the spell.
  • Wukong’s staff grows outward, and he spins it around for 4 seconds, dealing 20/110/200 (+110% Attack Damage) physical damage per second to nearby enemies, knocking them up for 1 second the first time they get hit. At the start, Wukong gains 15% Movement Speed, and he gains an additional 10% per second over the duration.

Is it going to be like this from now on? Do you think that Valve and their Dota 2 will bring attention to the LoL players and make them get on Dota 2 just because the hero will be more fun to play? I think that is always like that, the house that creates and let’s say overworks the hero second, should make the hero to be played better. And, as always, the new heroes are always overpowered?

I am Pretty sure the new Wukong, or should I say Monkey King will be agility based and will be picked and played as a strong carry. Do not know a lot about the AOE dps that he’s going to deal, but when it comes down to single target, I think he will be OP.

Dota 2 Beta – Monkey King Spells:

Echo Sweep

Monkey King unleashes his spirit and sweeps the ground, dealing damage and striking all foes with a single attack from an illusion.

  • Hits each enemy in the radius once with an illusion.
  • Illusions are uncontrollable and untargetable and vanish after attacking.
  • Disjoints projectiles and cancels commands targeting Monkey King and all his illusions.
  • Affects all enemies around Monkey King and his illusions.
  • An enemy can only be hit once per cast.
  • Cast Animation: 0.3+0.51
  • Cast Range😕
  • Radius: 350
  • Base Damage: 100/150/200/250
  • Illusion Damage Dealt: 33%

Flicker

Performs a quick dash, leaving behind a trail of illusions to attack anyone in your wake.

  • Monkey King travels at a speed of 750.
  • Creates one illusion after every 100 range travel, resulting in up to 6 possible illusions.
  • Illusions are uncontrollable and untargetable and vanish after attacking.
  • Cannot travel over cliffs or trees.
  • Cast Animation: 0.3+0.51
  • Cast Range: 600
  • Radius: 275
  • Damage: 40/80/120/160
  • Illusion Damage Dealt: 33%
  • Move Speed Slow: 20%/25%/30%/35%
  • Duration: 2

Nimble Nimbus

Monkey King and his illusions have a chance to vault over their target on each hit, swapping positions. Enemies are spun facing away from Monkey King after the flip, while he is turned to their back.

  • Does not swap positions with non-hero units, but still spins them.
  • Proc Chance: 10%/15%/20%/25%
  • Bonus Damage: 20/30/40/50
  • Turn Speed Slow: 80%
  • Slow Duration: 1

Cloud Dance

Target hero becomes immobilized as Monkey King performs a sky-high somersault off a cloud, then crashes back down surrounding his target with three illusions on all four sides.

  • Monkey King is invulnerable as he performs his somersault.
  • Roots the affected target, so it can still turn, cast spells, use items, and attack.
  • Disables the following spells: Blink (Queen of Pain), Blink (Anti-Mage), Teleportation, Charge of Darkness Charge of Darkness, Phase Shift, Tricks of the Trade, and Blink Dagger.
  • Interrupts channeling spells of the target upon ensnaring, but affected units can channel spells during it.
  • Reveals invisible units for the duration.
  • Illusions are uncontrollable and only attack the target and vanish if the target dies.
  • The real Monkey King lands randomly on one of the four sides.
  • Cast Animation: 0.3+0.51
  • Channel Time: 1
  • Cast Range: 500
  • Illusion Damage Dealt: 33%
  • Illusion Damage Taken: 200%
  • Duration: 3/4/5

I think that Dota 2 Monkey King will be so fun to be played and the look and feel of it looks a lot better than in LoL and that’s why a lot of kids are going to come to leave League of Legends and start playing Dota 2. The graphics in Dota 2 looks more mature than in LoL too, looks like more real. I personally Vote for Dota 2 on this one.
