Valve released Dota 2 patch 7.40 on Dec 15, 2025, and the headline change is Largo, a froglike support who uses a two-stringed instrument to buff allies, dispel units, and pull targets with a sticky-whip tongue.
Largo is described as a flexible enabler for chaotic skirmishes. He can grant allies damage, healing, or movement speed while also removing buffs or debuffs from allies and enemies depending on the situation. His kit includes a tongue pull for repositioning and a suite of summoned froglings that disrupt enemy movement, plus a team-wide strum ability that applies powerful blessings during engagements.
Patch 7.40 goes beyond a single hero. Several popular heroes received reworks. Lone Druid’s Spirit Bear gets a revamped talent tree and a new Entangle ability for Sylla. Slark now has Essence Shift as an innate trait and gained the Saltwater Shiv to sap enemy regeneration and movement speed. Treant Protector’s Leech Seed and Overgrowth have been reworked to support a more aggressive frontline role.
The neutral item pool was adjusted with three new additions, Weighted Dice, Idol of Scree’Auk, and Riftshadow Prism, while Helm of the Undying, Sister’s Shroud, and Pyrrhic Cloak were removed. Valve also applied terrain adjustments and wide-ranging balance tweaks aimed at map flow and power distribution across matches.
The update includes the Winter Treasure Collector’s Cache for 2025, which contains 16 cosmetic sets across multiple heroes, including Shadow Fiend, Primal Beast, Broodmother, Enigma, Ringmaster, Morphling, Silencer, Centaur Warrunner, and Tiny.
