Doom: The Dark Ages to Feature Denuvo Anti-Tamper Technology

Fans gear up for Doom's latest installment while discussing Denuvo's impact.

Doom: The Dark Ages will incorporate Denuvo anti-tamper technology, which has sparked mixed reactions. This decision may come as a surprise, especially considering that Indiana Jones and the Great Circle did not feature it. Alongside a higher price tag than its Bethesda predecessor, this addition has led many to voice their concerns about player experience.

The team at id Software revealed some exciting details regarding the game’s specifications, too. You’ll need quite the setup for those looking to run Doom: The Dark Ages at Ultra 4K with a smooth 60FPS experience. Requirements include an AMD Ryzen 7 5700X or Intel Core i7 12700K, paired with a hefty 32GB of RAM. Graphic powerhouses like the NVIDIA RTX 4080 or AMD Radeon RX 7900XT are also necessary.

Interestingly enough, Bethesda has taken steps recently to remove Denuvo from several older titles. Games such as Wolfenstein Youngblood, Ghostwire: Tokyo, and even Doom Eternal have seen this change. It wouldn’t be surprising to see a similar post-launch update for Doom: The Dark Ages in about a year.

Bethesda is preparing for a May 15th release date. Players can expect features like Full Ray Tracing/Path Tracing on PC. One can only wonder how well it will perform on future GPUs, such as the rumored RTX 5090, when combined with Path Tracing and DLSS 4 X4!

I’d love to hear what you think about these updates! How do you feel about Denuvo making an appearance? Is it something that could affect your decision to buy? Share your thoughts below!
