Diablo IV will reduce the difficulty of Bloodsoaked Sigils after players hit an impossible wall

Patch 2.6.1, scheduled for March 24, 2026, will lower Bloodsoaked Sigils' difficulty and add a stash and blacksmith by the Butcher vendor.

Blizzard is dialing back the difficulty of Bloodsoaked Sigils in Diablo IV after players reported the activity was effectively blocking progression. The change is part of patch 2.6.1, which is scheduled to go live on Tuesday, March 24, 2026.

Season 12, the Season of Slaughter, began ten days earlier and introduced Bloodied Sigils and their tougher Bloodsoaked variants. Bloodied Sigils buff Nightmare Dungeons, Infernal Hordes, and Lair Bosses to a higher tier and reward powerful Bloodied items that scale with killstreaks. Bloodsoaked Sigils pushed that escalation further, matching roughly the challenge of Pit tier 100 and earning Blizzard’s description as “the truest test of strength.” Players quickly found the leap too large, however, because Bloodsoaked Sigils only appear after clearing tier 100 of the Pit or the Tower and then appear to replace lower-tier Bloodied Sigils entirely, leaving no easy way back.

The activity features a relentless Butcher enemy that pursues players continuously and returns even after being defeated. Community estimates put the relative difficulty of Bloodsoaked encounters far above lower tiers, and many characters became stuck after unlocking them.

Blizzard acknowledged the problem in its patch notes and said it would lower the activity’s difficulty. You can read Blizzard’s announcement on the official patch page here. Until the patch arrives, players discovered a practical workaround: you can swap Bloodsoaked and Bloodstained/Bloodied Sigils by dropping one onto a stack of the other in your inventory, but keep some of each if you want the option to convert them back later.

Patch Notes – Diablo IV patch 2.6.1

The patch will reduce Bloodsoaked Sigils’ difficulty so players who have unlocked that content can actually complete it, and it includes several quality-of-life and bug fixes mentioned on Blizzard’s patch page.

  • Blizzard: “We’ve received feedback that many players cannot reasonably complete Bloodsoaked Sigils after unlocking them. By lowering the difficulty significantly, we hope to guarantee that all players who have earned access to Bloodsoaked content have a better chance of success.”
  • Adds a stash and a blacksmith beside the Butcher vendor Kael Rills in town.
  • Fixes an issue where Bloodied Nightmare Dungeons did not have the correct Obducite drop chance.
  • Corrects instances where the Butcher’s attacks were invisible on low graphics settings.

The patch is scheduled to arrive on March 24, 2026.
