Destiny 2’s Update 8.2.6, launching on May 6, is the last major patch before the Edge of Fate expansion arrives this summer. It introduces the limited-time Rite of the Nine event, weapon rebalances, and PvP changes that may shift the current meta during Heresy Act 3.
The update focuses on reducing the dominance of Legacy Frame Pulse Rifles like Redrix’s Estoc, which have been repeatedly nerfed due to their strong presence in competitive play. Hunter’s On the Prowl Void Aspect and Radiant Dance Machines Exotic also receive adjustments to reduce their impact in Crucible matches.

- Reduced Prismatic-specific Super cooldown penalty from 10% to 5%.
Scatter Grenade
- Reduced scatter grenade damage vs. players by 15%.
Hunter (On the Prowl)
- Reduced PvP prey-finding range from 45m to 25m.
- Reduced PvP hunt time from infinite to 15 seconds.
Warlock (Lightning Surge)
- Clamped variability of Lightning Surge damage against players.
- Slightly increased minimum damage and reduced maximum damage dealt.

Withering Blade (Stasis and Prismatic melee)
- Increased tracking strength by 20%.
- Increased damage by 10%.
All Throwing Knife melees
- Fixed tracking issues for throwing knives.
- Lightweight Knife (Solar melee): Increased tracking shape size by 10% and tracking strength by 20%.
- Fan of Knives (Solar and Prismatic melee): Increased tracking shape size by 15%.
On the Prowl (Void Aspect)
- Reduced prey-finding cooldown from 0.5s to 0.1s.
- Ability energy granted instantly instead of over time.

- Origin Trait reduces ADS Damage Falloff Scalar by 0.1, lowering Battler and Estoc’s from 1.7 to 1.6.
- Increased BxR Battler’s Airborne Effectiveness from 10 to 21.

- Base damage increased from 14.5 to 15.
- Precision damage increased from 27.6 to 27.8.
Hand Cannons
Heavy Burst
ADS damage falloff scalar increased from 1.5x to 1.6x.
Adaptive – Judgment
- Magazine size increased from 9 to 11.
- Reload time increased from 40 to 45.
- Handling increased from 42 to 55.
Auto Rifles
High Impact
- Base damage increased by 4% (body shot 23 to 24, very important hit 41.4 to 43.2).
Precision
- Base damage increased by 3%, precision damage scalar slightly reduced (body shot 19.4 to 20, very important hit 33.95 to 34).
Submachine Guns
Adaptive Submachine Guns
- ADS damage falloff scalar increased from 1.4x to 1.5x.
Shotguns
Heavy Burst Slug
- Damage increased by 8%.

One Quiet Moment
- Now has two stacks activating at 1s (50% bonus) and 2s out of combat.
Alacrity
- Activates at reduced effectiveness when a teammate dies; max effectiveness when two or more teammates are dead.
Exotics Weapons Updates
Lord of Wolves
- Reduced hip fire damage in PvE by 30%.
Riskrunner
- Increased zoom from 13 to 14.
Truth and Two Tailed Fox
- Increased ammo pickup from crates in Crucible from 1 to 2.
Alethonym
- Special ammo brick creation now costs 50% less energy.
- Vestigial Alchemy trait description clarified.
Finality’s Auger
- Increased target paint duration to match turret duration.
- Environmental target marker now tracks additional targets entering the zone.
- Grants automatic reload from reserves after turret deployment.
- Reduced turret self-damage by 85%.
- Increased turret damage by 10%.

- Reduced hip fire bonuses to Primary weapons, aligning accuracy and range with Hip Fire Grip perk.

- Further 25% accuracy reduction for custom tuned Exotics including The Last Word.
- Energy refund for player defeats without full class ability energy reduced from 33% to 20%.

- Added RDMs’ hip fire accuracy and range bonuses for Primary ammo weapons, always active.
- +50 Airborne Effectiveness bonus now always active, not just when airborne hip firing.
