Destiny 2 launched a short event called Call to Arms as a warm-up for the Renegades expansion, and players noticed a glaring problem within hours. The event awards leaderboard placement to the absolute highest scores, and those scores are counted with player power baked in. That means the top prize tiers are effectively reserved for players who are already at the 550 cap.
The event is no longer just about meeting an A+ threshold. It wants the single highest scores across Portal activities. To chase those scores, players are expected to run maximum difficulty plus a stack of negative modifiers that make runs slow and miserable. Then add the hidden twist – score scales with your power level. If a player is under 500 power, they have almost no chance. Even players in the 501-549 range are unlikely to hit the numbers being posted by capped accounts.
This is a problem. The activity was presented as a catch-up event where lapsed players could earn high-power gear at the Tower. Instead, the design rewards people who are already fully capped and willing to grind the worst modifiers on broken Portal maps.
Players have laid out a few core fixes they want to see now. The common requests are:
- Remove power level from the scoring formula so skill and strategy decide placement.
- Allow competitive scoring without forcing everyone to stack the same awful modifiers.
- Address long running Portal bugs in the chosen activities, like slow Dread spawns in Salt Mine and odd revive behavior in The Coil.
This follows a rough run for Bungie events. Festival of the Lost recently required an extra week of farming because its central activities shipped with major bugs. Between that and a catalogue of persistent Portal problems, the community is fed up with events that promise accessible rewards but end up gated behind weird design choices or broken systems.
Bungie has acknowledged player feedback and said it will post details on some changes in the coming days. The developer also published the original Call to Arms announcement when the event went live.

Players who want to see a meaningful event should watch whether Bungie removes power weighting or retools scoring so that the contest rewards effort rather than a preexisting power cap. If changes arrive they will determine whether this ends up as a clever contest or another event that only feels fair if you already own everything.
