Destiny 2 Aims to “Broaden the Appeal” of the Franchise

Eric Hirshberg, the CEO of Activision Publishing is giving out some insight on Destiny 2 today. He is asked about the game by an analyst. Hirshberg declines to share any specifics about the release timing which is for 2017.

What he said its aim is to “broaden the appeal” of Destiny 2. He is saying that it is happening to appeal to existing players and newcomers.

They are on track and really in a good mood for what they think is going to be an awesome sequel for Destiny 2 in 2017.  The design of the sequel is to both excite their highly engaged current players. This will also expand the appeal even further, bringing in new fans and bringing back fans who already lost the touch of the game.

News

Earlier this month, the management of Activision said that the game’s ambition is to get millions of new players. Hirshberg also says during this announcement that Bungie has some struggles with keeping up with the demand of the new content. He says that he think the developer should have the ability to do better in this in the future.

In the past, he mentioned that the demand for this game content has somewhat outpaced their ability to deliver upon that demand. Going forward, along with their partners at Bungie, they put together what they believe is a smart approach.

This will allow them to deliver that steady stream of great content. In order to keep the players engaged and keep the universe alive and growing in the wake of that sequel.

The official release date of Destiny 2 is not formal yet. The plan for the sequels is official in a contract between Bungie and Activision. Hirshberg confirms that the next full game in the series was actually in 2014. With the delay of this sequel, expansion Rise of Iron taking the place as a stopgap release.

The report says that at the end of September, Destiny 2 will come for PC and it features newly populated planets.
