Big news for Death Stranding fans! An animated film set in the game’s eerie universe is officially in the works. This isn’t just a retelling of the original story, but something fresh, thanks to the creative talents of Aaron Guzikowski, who wrote for Raised by Wolves and Prisoners.
The project is a collaboration between Kojima Productions and LA-based animation studio Line Mileage. While there’s no release date yet, Guzikowski promises a tone that echoes the vibe of Predator: Killer of Killers, blending darkness with hope in a way that perfectly fits the Death Stranding world.
Guzikowski shared, “I love the world of Death Stranding, it’s so creatively freeing, so beautifully dark and yet hopeful; I’m so excited and honored that Hideo Kojima, whose work I’ve long admired, has invited me to dwell within his creation, to birth new stories into this fertile, mind-bending universe.” Honestly, that sounds pretty promising, don’t you think?
Meanwhile, A24 is also making a live-action Death Stranding movie, so fans have plenty to look forward to beyond the game.
Speaking of games, Death Stranding 2: On The Beach will be released on June 26 exclusively for PlayStation 5. VGC recently got a sneak peek at the game and even chatted with Kojima himself. They described moments that totally reminded them of Metal Gear—like using a silenced rifle to sneak past guards. Wow, that’s a cool throwback vibe!
