Dead of Darkness 2 is in development for PS5 and PS4, bringing a SNES-inspired look to a new survival-horror story. Its debut trailer premiered at the Horror Game Awards Halloween Showcase on Oct. 7.
The trailer opens with a propaganda-style video for Goldren Creek, a retreat promising visitors an idyllic future. The scene soon gives way to the aftermath of human experiments, while 1990s-inspired anime cutscenes add another retro touch.
Players will switch between characters to solve puzzles and use item boxes to store and share resources, a familiar survival-horror setup. A range of weapons will be available, but supplies will be scarce, making ammunition conservation part of the challenge. Secret documents, clues and other items will fill in the world’s story.
